Dermal fillers are a popular way to combat wrinkles and skin folds, especially in areas that cannot be helped by increasing elastin or collagen. Many new products have entered the market in the last ten years, including Juvéderm, Restylane, and Revolux. The most common uses for dermal fillers include increasing the fullness of lips, cheeks, chin, under-eye hollows, jawline, and back of the hand.
Dermal fillers are not permanent, but they can last for 6 to 18 months depending on the individual and the type of filler used. Botox and fillers are both effective for different purposes - Botox treats wrinkles in the upper face, while fillers add volume to the skin. Dermal fillers usually last longer, but both can be used together for the best results.
Most women benefit from dermal fillers starting at age 40, though this does decrease with the new focus on beautiful lips. Increasingly, men are using cheek fillers to support hollowing around the cheeks.
Our beauty therapists at The Salon recommend that you do not touch the treated areas or apply makeup for at least 10 hours. We also suggest avoiding hot environments such as UV sunbeds and saunas etc…
